Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said that deliberate attempts have been made to foment labour unrest at several locations and industrial establishments across the country. He noted that intelligence agencies possess clear information indicating that the fugitive autocrat is actively providing funds to destabilise the labour sector.
Addressing a rally at the Madrasa Ground in Rajshahi on Tuesday afternoon, the prime minister added that several political parties—which previously sought to influence the public ahead of the election—have now joined forces in this effort.
Referring to the activities of the banned Awami League and opposition elements in connection with the unrest, Tarique Rahman said, "We have clear intelligence that the autocrat who fled the country is providing funds for this. With whose help? There are several parties spreading misinformation in the country. They tried to sell various tickets to the people before the election. These two sides have joined hands. One is providing money from across the border, while the other is sitting here and trying to create instability."
Tarique Rahman emphasised that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) government is actively working to restore national stability, strengthen security, reopen closed industrial establishments, and make farmers self-reliant. He noted that the administration is also focused on improving workers' skills and expanding employment opportunities both domestically and abroad. However, he alleged, certain political parties are continuously attempting to disrupt these progressive initiatives through engineered unrest.
