A Dhaka-bound train has been stranded at the Kishoreganj railway station for over two hours following an unexpected engine failure, causing significant disruption to rail communication and leaving hundreds of passengers in distress. According to available reports, the train encountered technical malfunctions that eventually rendered the locomotive completely inoperable upon reaching the station, preventing it from continuing its scheduled journey toward the capital.
The sudden breakdown has severely inconvenienced commuters, who found themselves trapped inside stagnant carriages amid oppressive heat and humid weather conditions. Elderly passengers, women, and children bore the brunt of the suffering, struggling with the prolonged delay and lack of immediate cooling facilities inside the blocked compartments. Many travelers expressed deep frustration over missing important professional and personal engagements, with some scrambling to find alternative modes of transport.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team of railway technicians and mechanical engineers rushed to the scene to assess the situation and initiate repair works. Station authorities stated that frantic efforts are underway to either fix the faulty engine or arrange a replacement locomotive to resume the journey to Dhaka as quickly as possible. However, engineers noted that restoring full functionality would require a brief period of meticulous safety checks.
Frequent travelers and local observers have pointed out that aging rolling stock and a lack of rigorous periodic maintenance continue to plague the railway sector, often resulting in mid-journey breakdowns. Passengers urged the railway administration to upgrade infrastructural facilities and ensure regular servicing of engines to prevent such recurring commuter hardships on vital intercity routes.
Meanwhile, station management has urged passengers to remain calm while updates are continuously broadcast over the public address system. Railway officials assured that normal operations would resume immediately once the technical clearance is granted, allowing the stranded train to finally depart for its destination in Dhaka.
