Law enforcement agencies have successfully cracked a sensational robbery case involving the brutal attack on a mobile banking merchant in the capital, where miscreants looted seven lakh taka after slashing the victim. Following extensive investigations and intelligence-led raids across various locations, police arrested five members of an organized criminal gang allegedly directly involved in the heist. A portion of the stolen cash along with weapons used in the commission of the crime has also been recovered from their possession.
According to details of the incident, the mobile banking merchant was targeted late at night while returning home after closing his shop. The perpetrators, in a pre-planned operation, intercepted the businessman and launched a sudden, violent assault. Armed with sharp weapons, they inflicted serious injuries on the victim before snatching a bag containing the cash and fleeing the scene rapidly. Local residents later rescued the bleeding businessman and rushed him to a hospital, where he underwent prolonged medical treatment.
Following the incident, the victim filed a case of attempted murder and robbery at the local police station. Recognizing the gravity of the crime, multiple law enforcement units launched a rigorous investigation. By leveraging modern information technology and analyzing close-circuit television (CCTV) footage, investigators traced the movement of the suspects. Prolonged intelligence surveillance eventually confirmed that the robbery was executed by a professional gang operating across various neighborhoods.
Police sources revealed that the arrested suspects provided crucial information during preliminary interrogations. They admitted to tracking the merchant's routine prior to the ambush and splitting the looted money among themselves before attempting to go into hiding. Swift police action ultimately dismantled their operation, preventing them from escaping justice.
Authorities confirmed that legal procedures have been finalized and the suspects have been produced before the court, while efforts are underway to apprehend remaining fugitives linked to the syndicate. Law enforcement has intensified patrols and intelligence monitoring to curb similar crimes and ensure public safety moving forward.
