Following the recent attack on the New Guinea Housing Project in the capital, the owner of the institution, Md. Nazim Uddin Bhuiyan, has now been threatened with death by the accused individuals involved in the case. Seeking security for his life, he filed a General Diary (GD) at the Cantonment Police Station last Saturday.
According to Nazim Uddin's complaint, around 11:00 AM on Saturday, four individuals—including Md. Shahriyar Mahmud, Md. Abul Kashem, and Babul—approached him behind the City Kabab Hotel in the ECB Chattar area, hurled verbal abuse, and threatened to kill him. Since the incident, he has been suffering from extreme insecurity.
Police sources indicate that Md. Shahriyar Mahmud was previously arrested in connection with the attack on the New Guinea Housing Project and is currently out on bail. Two other accused individuals in the case are Md. Abul Kashem and Babul, among whom Abul Kashem has secured anticipatory bail from the High Court.
Cantonment Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Gias Uddin told Chitra Post on Tuesday that a GD has been registered regarding the threat and that police are investigating the matter.
Earlier, on the night of September 26, an attack took place at the New Guinea Properties housing project. During the incident, a studio belonging to content creator Salman Muktadir, located within the premises, was vandalized and looted. On the very night of the incident, Salman Muktadir published a detailed video describing the event, which sparked widespread discussion across social media and various circles.
Investigation-related sources revealed that a 'terrorist group' was hired for Tk 1 crore to carry out the attack on the New Guinea Housing Project. Md. Ibrahim, the convenor of the Bhashantek Thana BNP, allegedly sent hired thugs to execute the assault, which involved members of Mirpur's notorious Mamun gang.
