A disturbing incident of child abuse has emerged from a residential Qawmi madrasa in Gazipur, leading to the arrest of two individuals. The accused, identified as 23-year-old teacher Oliullah Islam and 38-year-old management official Mohammad Mizan, were taken into custody by police on Thursday night following a formal complaint filed by the victim's mother.
The victim, an eight-year-old student in the third grade, had been residing at the madrasa since October 7. The abuse came to light on October 13 when the child returned home for a meal, and her family noticed signs of trauma during her bath. According to the case details, the teacher allegedly woke the child in the middle of the night on October 10, using threats and coercion to take her to a storeroom, where he repeatedly assaulted her over the following two nights.
Disturbingly, the victim's family alleges that when they approached the madrasa authorities to report the crime, the management—specifically Mohammad Mizan and another individual named Abdul Quddus Sheikh—attempted to cover up the incident rather than taking action against the perpetrator. It is alleged that they even attempted to help the accused teacher flee the premises to avoid legal repercussions.
Following the filing of the case, the police have launched a thorough investigation. The victim has been sent for medical examination to gather forensic evidence, and legal proceedings are currently underway. The incident has sparked significant public outrage in the local community, with residents demanding strict legal action against all those involved in the abuse and the subsequent cover-up.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the third accused, Abdul Quddus Sheikh, who remains at large. The authorities have assured the public that the investigation will be conducted with the utmost priority to ensure justice for the victim and to hold the perpetrators accountable under the law.
