The Association of Anti Money Laundering Compliance Officers of Banks in Bangladesh (AACOBB) has officially announced its newly elected executive committee for the 2026-27 term, aimed at strengthening compliance and anti-money laundering frameworks across the nation's banking sector. The leadership selection took place following a unanimous decision reached during the organization's annual general meeting held in Dhaka, where prominent Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officers (CAMLECOs) from various commercial banks were chosen to steer the association.
In the newly formed committee, Mahi Juned, Additional Managing Director and CAMLECO of The City Bank, has been elected as the Chairperson. Meanwhile, Faruque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director and CAMLECO of United Commercial Bank (UCB), has taken on the vital role of General Secretary. The democratic selection process follows the initial election of fifteen CAMLECOs representing diverse financial institutions during the previous general meeting in August.
The executive lineup also features several other seasoned banking executives in key positions. Rois Uddin Ahmad, Deputy Managing Director and CAMLECO of Mutual Trust Bank, has been entrusted with the responsibilities of Treasurer. Additionally, Chowdhury Moinul Islam of BRAC Bank has secured the position of First Vice-President, while Suprova Sayeed of Agrani Bank has been elected as the Second Vice-President.
To ensure smooth administrative operations, Mahmudun Nabi Chowdhury of Eastern Bank and Md. Saiful Hasan of Citibank N.A. have been designated as the First and Second Joint Secretaries respectively. The inclusion of these experienced compliance leaders is expected to bolster the enforcement of stringent international anti-money laundering standards and counter-terrorist financing measures within Bangladesh's evolving financial landscape.
The remaining eight positions on the executive board are filled by qualified compliance officers from prestigious institutions including HSBC, Bank Asia, Dutch-Bangla Bank, Al-Arafah Islami Bank, Pubali Bank, Prime Bank, Habib Bank, and Community Bank. As the financial sector faces increasing regulatory scrutiny globally and domestically, the newly appointed committee of AACOBB aims to foster greater cooperation among banks, enhance professional training, and safeguard the country's economic integrity against financial crimes.
