Popular content creator Ashraful Hossain Alom, widely recognized as Hero Alom, has initiated legal action by filing a formal lawsuit against his former wife and two associates, leveling serious allegations of extortion, fraud, embezzlement, and death threats. The case was lodged on Tuesday morning before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed. After recording the initial statements of the plaintiff, the court took the matter into cognizance and directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit a detailed report.
According to the case details, the primary accused is Alom's former wife, Mosammat Sathi Khatun. The other two individuals named in the lawsuit are Ahsan Habib Selim and Md. Mohidul Islam, who are reportedly connected to the petitioner. The complaint outlines that Sathi Khatun had previously approached Hero Alom seeking opportunities to work in his music videos. Banking on this professional association, Alom extended financial assistance to her for personal expenses and clothing. Notably, on August 17, she was provided with Tk 500,000, a transaction that Sathi herself reportedly acknowledged on social media regarding its deposit into a bank account.
The situation escalated significantly when Hero Alom traveled to Saudi Arabia on August 22 to perform Umrah. While he was abroad, Sathi Khatun allegedly demanded an additional Tk 200,000 under the pretext of music video shooting and styling expenses. Following growing disputes, Alom formally divorced Sathi Khatun on September 29. The plaintiff claims that following the divorce, all three accused colluded to demand a hefty extortion sum of Tk 1.5 million from him.
Furthermore, the lawsuit states that when Alom refused to comply with the extortion demand, the accused resorted to aggressive tactics. They allegedly used various social media platforms to broadcast abusive language, defamatory remarks, and direct death threats targeting Hero Alom and his family members. Feeling increasingly insecure and harassed by these continuous threats, Alom initially sought recourse at the Hatirjheel police station on October 16 before formally moving the court.
Confirming the development, Santa Sakhina, the legal counsel representing Hero Alom, stated that the court has duly recorded the plaintiff's testimony and accepted the petition. The PBI has been entrusted with unearthing the facts behind the allegations. The legal proceedings are expected to advance significantly once the investigative agency submits its formal findings to the magistrate.
This high-profile legal dispute underscores the complex personal conflicts that often befall public figures in the digital age. As the PBI initiates its investigation, followers and observers await the official findings to shed light on the veracity of the extortion and threat claims brought forward by the prominent content creator.
