In a momentous milestone for the Bangladeshi music industry, Hamin Ahmed, CEO of the Bangladesh Lyricists, Composers and Performers Society (BLCPS) and a prominent member of the legendary band Miles, has been elected to the executive committee of the Asia-Pacific Music Creators Alliance (APMA). This prestigious international recognition marks the first time Bangladesh has secured such a vital representation, opening unprecedented doors for local artists on the global stage.
The 11-member executive committee features prominent music organization representatives from various nations, including Australia, China, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and India. This broad coalition works collectively to address regional challenges, and Bangladesh's inclusion ensures that the nation's rich musical heritage and contemporary creations will have a voice in critical policy-making and advocacy forums internationally.
Expressing his enthusiasm following the election, Hamin Ahmed stated that this recognition is a proud moment for the entire country. He noted that Bangladesh's music sector has reached a mature stage where it can actively contribute to and lead global dialogues. According to him, this affiliation will significantly enhance information exchange, cross-border collaborations, and strategic partnerships, ultimately benefiting the country's lyricists, composers, and performers.
The Asia-Pacific Music Creators Alliance officially commenced its journey in November 2016 during the World Creators Forum held in Beijing, China, with the core mission of safeguarding the rights and intellectual property of music creators across the Asia-Pacific region. Over the years, the organization has served as a vital bulwark for creators fighting against copyright infringement and unfair royalty distributions.
Industry insiders believe that Hamin Ahmed's representation in APMA will act as a catalyst for modernizing Bangladesh's music business ecosystem, particularly in combating digital piracy and ensuring fair compensation for creators. As global streaming and digital distribution dominate the modern music landscape, this international alliance will provide Bangladeshi artists with the necessary backing to protect their intellectual property rights and integrate more fluidly with the global music community.
