Mumbai Police have launched a comprehensive investigation following a bomb threat email targeting the residence of veteran Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan. The threatening communication was reportedly received by a school located in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) of India's entertainment capital. Authorities are currently trying to trace the digital footprint of the sender to determine the exact motive and credibility behind the message.
While law enforcement agencies have intensified security around the actor's properties, it remains to be officially ascertained whether the threat specifically names his famous 'Jalsa' bungalow or the 'Prateeksha' residence. Amitabh Bachchan's 'Jalsa' is a prominent landmark in Mumbai where the legendary actor regularly greets masses of dedicated fans every Sunday outside his courtyard. Given the high-profile nature of the target, Mumbai police officials and bomb detection squads are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
This incident is part of a troubling pattern of similar security scares in the metropolis. Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters received a comparable threat via email, prompting an immediate evacuation and thorough sweep by security personnel. Fortunately, after extensive inspections involving specialized canine and bomb-squad units, no suspicious objects or explosive materials were recovered, classifying the threat as a hoax. Similarly, back on March 20, the Mumbai Press Club received an alarming email claiming small explosives containing poisonous gas had been planted inside the premises, causing widespread panic.
In recent months, celebrity security has come into sharp focus following various threats directed at prominent Bollywood personalities, including recent incidents involving actor Tiger Shroff where multiple suspects were apprehended by law enforcement. The rising frequency of these cyber-threats has put the Mumbai Police cyber-crime cell on high alert as they deploy advanced tracking tools to identify the culprits hiding behind anonymous proxy servers.
As the investigation unfolds, security agencies continue to assess the vulnerability of public and private institutions against electronic threats. While many of these warnings ultimately turn out to be malicious hoaxes designed to disrupt public order, police have assured the public that exhaustive protocols will be maintained to safeguard citizens, high-profile personalities, and critical infrastructure across the city.
