The joy and festivity of a wedding have turned into profound grief as a newlywed bride died mysteriously at her in-laws' house just six days after her marriage. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community. Following a case filed by the victim's father alleging abetment to suicide and murder, police have arrested the deceased's husband and mother-in-law, while an investigation is underway to uncover the truth behind the tragedy.

According to family and local sources, the young woman from Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh was married to Ekramul of Nalitabari upazila in Sherpur on October 15. She was dreaming of a new life following the nuptials. A few days later, she visited her paternal home with her husband on Sunday, returning to her in-laws' house on Tuesday afternoon. However, familial discord reportedly erupted soon after her return.

Family members alleged that a disagreement arose over gifts and household items sent from the bride's paternal home, which the in-laws found unappealing. This trivial issue quickly escalated into verbal and physical abuse. The victim's mother claimed that her daughter was beaten over the gifted items and subsequently strangled to death in a planned manner. They firmly asserted that this was not a natural death or suicide, but a premeditated murder.

Meanwhile, around 3:00 AM on the intervening night of Tuesday, the family received a phone call from the son-in-law's house claiming that the bride had fallen ill. In-laws rushed her to the Nalitabari Upazila Health Complex, but the on-duty physician declared her dead upon arrival. Dr. Fahad Rahman, the resident medical officer of the health complex, confirmed that the bride was brought to the hospital dead.

Following the incident, the victim's family expressed suspicion regarding the conduct of the husband and his relatives. The grieving father lodged a case with the police station accusing them of abetment and murder. Acting on the complaint, police promptly arrested the husband and mother-in-law. However, the accused husband initially denied all allegations, claiming to the media that they were asleep at night and unaware of what transpired.

Police stated that the arrestees are being interrogated, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the autopsy report is available. Further legal action will be taken based on the autopsy findings and circumstantial evidence. The untimely death has sparked widespread anger in the area, with locals and the victim's family demanding a thorough investigation and exemplary punishment for those responsible.
