Bangladesh has expressed strong condemnation over the recent spate of attacks carried out by Houthi rebels in Saudi Arabia, which notably included a strike on the Dammam airport. According to an official press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, the attacks resulted in casualties and injuries, among whom at least two are Bangladeshi nationals. The government has conveyed deep concern over the safety of expatriate workers and is closely monitoring the situation through diplomatic channels in the kingdom.
In its formal statement, Dhaka offered heartfelt sympathies to the families affected by the violence and reiterated its unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Saudi Arabia. Bangladesh firmly maintains that attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and international airports constitute a severe violation of international law and pose a direct threat to regional peace and security.
The foreign ministry called for an immediate and unconditional cessation of all hostile attacks by the Houthi movement, emphasizing that military escalation only deepens the humanitarian crisis in the region. Bangladesh underscored the necessity of pursuing a peaceful resolution through constructive dialogue and diplomatic engagement, urging all conflicting parties to exercise restraint and prioritize regional stability.
As a nation that consistently advocates for global peace and adherence to the United Nations charter, Bangladesh reaffirmed its steadfast support for the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia. The international community has also been urged to play a more proactive role in facilitating a comprehensive political solution to the ongoing conflict in Yemen, which continues to threaten the broader Middle East.
In the wake of these developments, the Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in Saudi Arabia have been instructed to remain vigilant and maintain close contact with local authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the vast Bangladeshi diaspora residing in the country. This firm diplomatic stance underscores Dhaka's commitment to standing beside its strategic allies against terrorism and cross-border aggression.
