Seven Islamic political parties belonging to the Qawmi madrasa tradition have discussed whether they can contest local government elections together as a unified alliance. However, a final decision has yet to be reached.

The issue is slated for further deliberation at the next scheduled meeting on December 5, with informal discussions expected to continue in the interim. The primary talks took place during a meeting of the seven-party liaison committee at Al-Jamiatul Islamia Makhzanul Ulum (Dhaka) madrasa in Khilgaon on Thursday.

The meeting was presided over by Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Secretary General Maulana Sajidur Rahman. Running from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm, the session was attended by members of the liaison committees from all participating factions.

Additional key attendees included Hefazat Organizing Secretary Mufti Bashir Ullah, the organization's Narayanganj district president Maulana Abdul Awal, and Mufti Ayub Babunagari, son of the organization's ameer.

According to sources present at the gathering, discussions centered on the structural framework of the proposed seven-party alliance, joint activities under a shared banner, diplomatic relations with other political coalitions, and strategic future planning. The upcoming December 5 meeting will delve deeper into the alliance's foundational principles and working procedures.
