Security forces have intensified their crackdown on criminal syndicates operating within the world's largest mangrove forest, the Sundarbans. In a recent operation, the Bangladesh Coast Guard raided a remote hideout of the notorious 'Dada Bhai' pirate gang deep inside the forest, leading to a fierce gunbattle. The outlaws opened fire as the security personnel approached, prompting a robust tactical response that ultimately forced the criminals to retreat deeper into the jungle.
During the sweep of the area, the Coast Guard successfully rescued five local fishermen who had been held hostage by the gang. According to local reports, the armed bandits had abducted the fishermen from various creeks while they were out earning their livelihood. The gang had demanded hefty ransoms from the victims' impoverished families, threatening dire consequences if their demands were not met. The timely intervention by the maritime security force has brought immense relief to the affected families.
In addition to rescuing the hostages, the security personnel recovered several firearms, ammunition rounds, and various logistics used by the outlaws during a thorough search of the hideout. The Coast Guard has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against maritime piracy and forest crime, vowing to maintain rigorous patrols and intelligence-driven operations across the vulnerable river routes of the region.
The rescued fishermen are currently being provided with necessary medical care and food before being safely reunited with their families. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have launched combing operations in surrounding forest compartments to track down and apprehend the fleeing members of the Dada Bhai gang, ensuring long-term safety for locals and tourists alike.
