The military forces of the United States and Israel are planning a fresh wave of major attacks on Iran following the US midterm elections. According to reports, these potential strikes would target Iran's nuclear facilities, missile and drone arsenals, and critical energy infrastructure, with both nations actively making comprehensive preparations.
While it remains uncertain whether US President Donald Trump will ultimately authorize the strikes, Tehran has issued strong warnings, vowing to deliver a crushing response and expand the regional conflict if attacked. These revelations came to light in a report published last Wednesday by The New York Times, citing US officials and individuals familiar with military planning. The report added that discussions are underway for a short-term, intense military campaign, with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth having spoken to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the matter this week.
Previous major joint US-Israeli strikes conducted between February and April of this year failed to achieve their intended objectives. Instead, those operations contributed to rising global energy prices and inflation, destabilized regional security in the Middle East, and depleted US stockpiles of missile defense systems.
Despite these setbacks, some US planners envision a massive, continuous three-day offensive against Iran. The strategy aims to inflict catastrophic economic damage on Tehran, thereby forcing the Iranian leadership to make concessions at the negotiating table.
