Marking World Polio Day, the student-led volunteer platform of Gopalganj Science and Technology University organized a special quiz competition and book distribution event at Nimtala Pre-Cadet School. Held on October 24, the program witnessed enthusiastic participation from over fifty young students, aiming to instill health awareness and emphasize the critical importance of polio immunization among the younger generation.
The quiz session featured a range of thoughtful questions centered on the polio virus, disease prevention, vaccination schedules, and general child health. This interactive format not only educated the children about the crippling disease but also allowed them to test their knowledge. Following the competition, informative books were distributed among the participating students to encourage reading habits and a culture of continuous learning.
Highlighting the core objective of the initiative, chapter president Ahnaf Shahriar stated that children represent the future of the nation, and ensuring their health and well-being is a collective social responsibility. He emphasized that imparting correct knowledge about vaccination and health consciousness from an early age helps build a well-informed generation, expressing hope that such activities will inspire children to pursue knowledge actively.
The event was graced by the presence of the school's esteemed teachers and dedicated members of the university's welfare club. Local educators and parents highly praised the initiative, noting that extracurricular engagements of this nature significantly contribute to the mental and intellectual growth of children beyond standard classroom instruction.
Aligning with global efforts to eradicate polio permanently, this localized campaign served as a powerful reminder of the impact youth-driven awareness programs can create. By educating children in formative years, such initiatives lay a strong foundation for a disease-free, health-conscious society, reflecting the organizers' ongoing commitment to community welfare.
