While filming intimate scenes often brings a sense of awkwardness, hesitation, or embarrassment, maintaining a straight face becomes nearly impossible when the furniture literally breaks apart. Hollywood stars Alexander Skarsgård and Olivia Colman faced precisely this amusing situation on the set of their new film, 'Wicker', where a collapsing bed during a romantic sequence sparked endless laughter.
In a recent interview with the US magazine People, Skarsgård shared his experience, describing the sequence as feeling akin to riding a roller coaster. He noted that they had a lingering sense of anticipation, wondering when the fragile bed would finally give way, and when it eventually did, suppressing their laughter proved to be a formidable challenge.
Colman echoed similar sentiments, revealing that they burst into unrestrained laughter the moment the bed collapsed. According to her, injecting humor into intimate sequences significantly reduces tension and helps recreate the natural spontaneity of real life. Otherwise, she noted, portraying romantic scenes with excessive seriousness would feel profoundly awkward.
Beyond the hilarity of the broken bed, Skarsgård faced other unique hurdles during the production of 'Wicker'. Notably, he had to wear a costume crafted entirely from wicker, which made even basic movements remarkably difficult.
The actor also mentioned that their intimate scenes were scheduled within the very first few days of shooting.
