Respect for differing opinions, critical thinking illuminated by logic, and the free expression of ideas—this is the true beauty of debate. In Bhairab upazila, the Bhairab Bandhushabha has long been working to cultivate this beauty. Continuing a six-year tradition, the 'Chitra Post-Bhairab Bandhushabha Debate Competition-2026' (School Level) kicked off on October 9. Organized with the full cooperation of the Bhairab Upazila Administration, debate teams from eight secondary educational institutions are participating in the event. Following intense preliminary rounds and semi-finals, Blue Bird School and Ambition Public School have secured their places in the grand finale.
The competition was officially inaugurated on October 9 at 4:30 PM by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) K. M. Mamnur Rashid, with Bhairab Bandhushabha President Jannatul Mishu in the chair. Praising the knowledge-oriented initiative by Bandhushabha, the UNO expressed his aspiration for such competitions to expand further. Also present at the event were Chitra Post Staff Reporter and Bandhushabha Advisor Suman Molla, along with advisors Lubna Haque, Wahida Amin, Zahidul Haque, and other members of Bandhushabha.
The first round of the 'Chitra Post-Bhairab Bandhushabha Debate Competition-2026' (School Level) was held on October 9 and 11. The motion for all debates in the preliminary round was: 'Citizen awareness is more effective than government initiatives in controlling dengue.' Addressing this critical public health issue, participating teams presented robust arguments supporting their respective stances while skillfully rebutting opposing claims. The exchange of counter-arguments and fluid presentations made every session lively and engaging.
In the very first debate of the opening day, Blue Bird School faced off against Gazipur Shaheen Cadet Academy, Bhairab branch, adjudicated by former members of the Bhairab Bandhushabha.
