A harrowing incident unfolded in the Hafizia Bhangar Takiya area of Kalidah Union, Feni, late Friday night. Local passersby, hearing faint groans emanating from a roadside bush, immediately alerted the national emergency service via 999. Police responded promptly, conducting a search of the area where they discovered Mohammad Abdullah Al Amin (30) bound with ropes. He was rushed to Feni General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Abdullah Al Amin serves as the member secretary of the Sonagazi Upazila unit of the Jatiyatabadi Tanti Dal. A resident of North Mongalkandi village, he had been missing since Wednesday afternoon after leaving home for the Sonagazi market in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw. His family reported that both of his mobile phones became unreachable by 10:00 PM that night. A formal missing person report (General Diary) was filed at the Sonagazi Police Station on Friday afternoon, just hours before he was found.
Medical reports from Feni General Hospital indicate that Al Amin bears visible signs of physical torture. He remains in a state of shock and is currently unable to speak coherently. His uncle, Abdul Haque Noman, confirmed that the family was notified by the police late Friday night and rushed to the hospital. Doctors are currently monitoring his condition, and investigators hope to record his statement once he recovers sufficiently.
The incident has sparked significant concern and speculation within the local community. Given the current political climate and the history of political tensions in the region, authorities are treating the abduction and torture with high priority. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and local political circles are closely watching the investigation.
Law enforcement officials have launched a formal investigation into the matter. While the family has not yet named any specific suspects, police stated that they are working to identify the perpetrators and uncover the circumstances surrounding the abduction. Local residents have expressed their alarm over the incident and are calling for increased security measures in the area to prevent such occurrences in the future.
