Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata, along with several other key locations, has received ominous bomb threats via email, triggering widespread concern among security agencies. Immediately after the threat was reported, local law enforcement and airport authorities ramped up security protocols to the highest level, deploying specialized units to thoroughly check sensitive zones.
According to security officials, personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), local police, and bomb disposal squads launched coordinated search operations across the airport premises. Extra vigilance is being maintained at terminal buildings, entry gates, and parking lots to ensure the safety of passengers and staff amidst the heightened alert status.
Preliminary assessments by law enforcement suggest the threat might be a hoax, a recurring pattern observed in recent months where similar threatening emails have targeted various airports and public facilities across India. However, authorities emphasized that no risk is being overlooked, and comprehensive security protocols are being strictly enforced.
Airport management has urged passengers to remain calm and advised them to arrive well ahead of their scheduled departure times to accommodate rigorous security screenings. Meanwhile, cybercrime investigators are actively working to trace the origin and IP address of the email sender to bring the culprits to justice.
Aside from the airport, police teams have also inspected other targeted locations mentioned in the threat communication. While no suspicious objects or explosives have been recovered so far, heightened security measures and patrols will remain in place across the metropolis until the situation is fully stabilized.
