A deep political crisis has erupted in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province centered around the long march and protest rallies called by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). To regain control of the situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's central government is seriously considering the implementation of governor's rule in the province.
According to various intelligence sources and Pakistani media reports, the Ministry of Interior remains on high alert over fears that the Islamabad-bound long march could lead to a severe deterioration in law and order. Preparations are underway to deploy paramilitary forces and Rangers at critical points, including the provincial capital, Peshawar.
Meanwhile, PTI leadership has issued a stern warning stating that if any unconstitutional measures or governor's rule are imposed, widespread protests will be launched across the country. They emphasized that the long march will continue according to its pre-scheduled timeline to demand the release of party chairman Imran Khan.
Political analysts believe that imposing governor's rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could introduce a new dimension of conflict into Pakistan's national politics and potentially expose the current coalition government to serious judicial challenges.
