A dramatic and unusual political protest has unfolded in Chattogram's Lohagara upazila, where a 48-year-old man named Md Faruk publicly bathed in milk to renounce his support for Jamaat-e-Islami. Expressing deep frustration over the local leadership's conduct during a market committee election, Faruk staged the protest on Monday night at the busy Adhunagar Bazar. A video of the incident began circulating on social media on Tuesday evening, quickly capturing widespread public attention.

According to local sources, Md Faruk is a resident of the Gatiapara area under Adhunagar union in Lohagara. He was previously known in the area for frequently posting video statements in favor of Jamaat-e-Islami on his personal Facebook account. However, local political dynamics shifted following the Adhunagar Bazar committee election held on Monday, where supporters of the BNP and Jamaat backed rival candidates for the presidency. When the election results were announced in the evening, the BNP-backed candidate emerged victorious.

Following the announcement, Faruk grew furious, alleging that local Jamaat leaders had failed to honor their commitments and did not work in favor of their supported candidate during the polls. Immediately after the results, he posted a video on his Facebook profile fiercely criticizing local Jamaat leaders and accusing them of dishonesty and failing to keep their promises.

Not stopping at a social media rant, Faruk went to Adhunagar Bazar later that night and poured milk over himself in a public bath to symbolize the total severing of his ties with Jamaat-e-Islami. A crowd gathered around him during the act, with some onlookers clapping in support. The video of the milk bath was subsequently shared online, going viral and generating massive discussions across various social media platforms.

Speaking about the incident, Md Faruk clarified that while he was never a registered member or activist of Jamaat-e-Islami, he had been a long-time supporter of the party. However, he stated that the current activities and leadership style of the party's local representatives in Adhunagar union disillusioned him completely, prompting him to take such an extraordinary step to register his protest and officially abandon his support.
