Amid mounting uncertainties surrounding the future of the US-Iran conflict and the ongoing clashes between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi armed group, the geopolitical landscape in the Middle East is growing increasingly tense. Against this backdrop, representatives from the newly formed Mecca Defense Alliance—comprising Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey—met in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Monday.

The three nations officially signed the Mecca Alliance last August. This high-level gathering marks the first significant diplomatic engagement between Iran and the alliance nations since the resurgence of hostilities between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. In an official statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the delegation's visit to Tehran aims to de-escalate ongoing tensions in the Middle East and pursue diplomatic solutions through dialogue.

Hosted by Iran's security chief Mohsen Rezaei, the meeting saw high-profile participation. Saudi Arabia was represented by Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, the younger brother of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The Pakistani delegation was led by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, while Turkey was represented by Intelligence Chief Hakan Fidan.

According to reports from Iran's Fars News Agency, Tehran released a joint press statement following the conclusion of the talks. The statement highlighted that the discussions primarily focused on regional peace and security, with representatives from all four nations agreeing to continue diplomatic dialogues aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation.

This high-stakes diplomatic move comes in the wake of the military conflict that erupted on February 28 following US and Israeli military actions inside Iran.
