📌Key Highlights & Summary:
  • •The victim's family in Tongi has been facing persistent threats since filing a child abuse case against a madrasa teacher.
  • •Rumors of the father fleeing the country due to safety concerns remain unverified by police and legal representatives.
  • •The accused teacher is currently in police custody, and law enforcement is monitoring the family's safety.

The family of a seven-year-old girl who was allegedly subjected to sexual abuse at a madrasa in Tongi is currently facing severe safety concerns and distress. On Monday afternoon, the victim's father publicly stated that he and his family had been receiving threats regarding the ongoing legal battle, leaving them in constant fear. Shortly after these remarks, rumors rapidly circulated late Monday night suggesting that the father had fled the country to escape potential harm. However, neither his legal counsel nor the local law enforcement agencies have been able to verify these claims.

Addressing the rumors, the family's lawyer, Md. Mohiuddin, expressed skepticism regarding the alleged departure. Speaking to the press, he noted that given the strict digital and immigration controls, any official exit from the country would have triggered records. The lawyer suggested that the father might simply be keeping a low profile and avoiding public visibility out of fear that adversaries could create a hostile environment or mobilize unrest against him.

Repeated attempts by journalists to reach the victim's father over his mobile phone on Tuesday were unsuccessful, as the device remained switched off. Meanwhile, local law enforcement stated they have received no official or reliable confirmation regarding his departure. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tongi West Police Station, Arifur Rahman, clarified that the narrative of him leaving the country is primarily circulating on social media platforms without verified backing from authorities.

The incident dates back to October 19, when the young girl was allegedly abused by a teacher named Moslem Ahmed at a local madrasa. Prompted by the horrifying event, the father and local residents apprehended the accused teacher and handed him over to the police. While the perpetrator was swiftly detained, the family began receiving pressure and threats to drop the case, forcing them to abandon their regular residence in Tongi for safety reasons. When reporters visited their apartment on Monday, it was found locked and empty.

The case has sparked widespread outrage and deep concern among local communities regarding child safety and the protection of witnesses. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a fair investigation into the abuse allegations while monitoring the security status of the affected family to prevent any untoward incidents.
