A video depicting members of the banned Chhatra League marching with 'logi-boitha' (poles and oars) in the Banshkhali upazila of Chattogram has surfaced on social media, sparking widespread concern. The incident occurred early Saturday morning in the Chunti Bazar area of Katharia Union. The footage shows a group of individuals carrying a banner and brandishing colorful poles and oars, with one person seen delivering a speech after the procession halted in the market area.
The public display of force by a banned organization has caused significant alarm among local residents. Since the political shift that led to the organization's ban, such a public show of strength is being viewed as a direct challenge to law and order. The viral video has triggered intense criticism online, with citizens demanding immediate legal action against those involved in the provocative act.
Banshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Rabiul Haque confirmed the incident, stating that police units were dispatched to the scene immediately upon receiving reports of the procession. Although the participants managed to flee before they could be apprehended, the police pursued them. The OC noted that the early hour of the event allowed the group to disperse quickly.
Currently, law enforcement is analyzing the video footage to identify the individuals involved. OC Rabiul Haque emphasized that the authorities are committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and will not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the region. The police are actively working to track down the participants and hold them accountable under the law.
Following the official ban on the Chhatra League, the administration has been vigilant across the country to prevent any unauthorized activities. The incident in Banshkhali is being treated with high priority, and local law enforcement has increased patrols in the area to maintain peace and prevent further disturbances.
