The nation is set to return to its regular professional rhythm this Sunday as the five-day holiday period concludes. Following the festive break for Durga Puja and the subsequent weekend, all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices will resume their standard operations starting tomorrow.
The holiday sequence began with a series of government-declared leaves from October 20 to October 22. This included a holiday for Navami on Tuesday, October 20, followed by a public holiday for Bijaya Dashami on Wednesday, October 21. An additional executive order extended the holiday through Thursday, October 22. When combined with the regular weekend of Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, employees enjoyed a continuous five-day break.
This extended hiatus resulted in a temporary lull in administrative and corporate activities across the country. As offices reopen, banking, insurance, and financial institutions are expected to return to their full operational capacity. Given the length of the break, it is anticipated that there will be a significant surge in workload and customer footfall at financial institutions on the first day back.
Furthermore, the judicial system will also resume its full schedule on Sunday. The resumption of court proceedings is expected to accelerate pending legal hearings and administrative tasks that were paused during the festive period. Educational institutions and other essential service providers are also scheduled to return to their normal operating hours.
It is worth noting that prior to this holiday stretch, offices remained open on Saturday, October 17, as part of a compensatory work schedule. With the festive season now behind them, the workforce is preparing to return to their professional duties. Authorities have emphasized the importance of maintaining administrative discipline and operational efficiency as the country transitions back to its regular work week.
