A vibrant atmosphere of celebration took over the Asha Tower premises in Shyamoli this Friday, as runners gathered for the kit distribution expo ahead of the 'G1 Advance Presents Family Runners 15K Run 2026'. Scheduled to take place on October 30 at Hatirjheel, the event turned into a family-oriented festival rather than a mere administrative procedure for collecting race gear.
From 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, registered runners arrived to collect their race bibs, jerseys, and kit bags. Beyond the logistics, the expo served as a networking hub where participants shared their training experiences and discussed strategies for the upcoming race. Organizers confirmed that approximately 2,500 runners have registered for the 15K event, highlighting the growing popularity of long-distance running in the capital.
A major highlight of the day was the children's art competition, held in the late afternoon. Children up to 12 years old showcased their creativity, adding a joyful dimension to the event. The inclusion of a traditional 'Pitha' (local cake) festival and a coffee corner further enhanced the festive mood, allowing families to bond while the runners prepared for their challenge.
Khobir Uddin Khan, Chairman of Swan Group, attended the event as a special guest, encouraging the participants and commending the initiative for promoting health and fitness. The organizers emphasized that the goal of the event is not only to test physical endurance but also to foster mental well-being and strengthen family ties through sports.
The upcoming 15K race at Hatirjheel is highly anticipated by the city's fitness community. The success of the kit expo has set a positive tone for the main event, with participants feeling energized and well-prepared. The organizing committee expects the race to be more than just a sporting competition, aiming to set a benchmark for a healthy lifestyle and community engagement in Dhaka.
