The Bangladeshi Student in Fulda (BSIF), an organization representing Bangladeshi students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences, Germany, successfully hosted its 'Winter Orientation 2026' on October 17. The event was organized to welcome approximately 15 new Bangladeshi students who recently enrolled in various departments of the university. BSIF regularly conducts these orientation programs in two sessions—summer and winter—to help newcomers adapt to the academic environment and the nuances of living in Germany.
The day-long program commenced at 11:00 AM with the registration of participants and a warm reception for guests and alumni. As a gesture of welcome, the new students were presented with commemorative gifts. Following the opening, a formal presentation was held to introduce the mission, objectives, and ongoing activities of BSIF. During this session, the organizers provided essential guidance on navigating life in Germany, including legal regulations, daily living standards, and academic protocols specific to Fulda University.
A highlight of the event was the career session, which featured four successful alumni who have completed their studies at Fulda University and are currently working in the German professional sector. Participating both in-person and online, these alumni shared their personal experiences, discussed the challenges of entering the German job market, and offered strategic advice on building a successful career post-graduation. This interactive session proved to be highly motivating for the new students, providing them with a clearer roadmap for their future.
Beyond the immediate goal of welcoming newcomers, BSIF's initiative serves as a vital platform for fostering a strong support network among Bangladeshi students abroad. For students arriving in a foreign country for higher education, such orientation programs are crucial for building confidence and community. The organizers emphasized that they intend to continue hosting similar workshops and social events to support the professional and personal development of the student community.
In conclusion, the orientation program acted as a significant milestone for the new students. By bridging the information gap regarding academic life and career prospects in Germany, BSIF has provided a valuable resource for those embarking on their educational journey. The new students expressed their appreciation for the event, noting that it helped them gain a comprehensive understanding of the university culture and the German lifestyle before officially starting their academic term.
