A tragic incident of violence has claimed the life of Md. Firoz (45), a local youth leader in the Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola district. Firoz, who served as the General Secretary of the Kalma Union (North) Jubo Dal, was brutally attacked following a dispute over a piece of land. The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.
The conflict originated on Thursday when Firoz set up a bamboo trellis for bean plants on a contested plot of land. According to local reports, the following day, during Friday prayers, the wife of a neighbor named Kajol allegedly destroyed the trellis. Upon returning from prayers, Firoz confronted the neighbor regarding the destruction of his property, which led to a heated verbal altercation. The situation escalated rapidly when Kajol arrived at the scene and attacked Firoz with a sharp machete, inflicting severe injuries.
Firoz was immediately rushed to the Lalmohan Upazila Health Complex and subsequently transferred to the Bhola Sadar Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Given the severity of his wounds, his family moved him to a private hospital in Dhaka for advanced medical care. Despite being placed on life support, Firoz succumbed to his injuries on Saturday afternoon.
Sub-Inspector Md. Nurul Amin of Lalmohan Police Station confirmed that law enforcement officials visited the crime scene immediately after receiving the report. The primary suspect, Kajol, has been taken into custody. While preliminary investigations suggest the dispute over the bean plants was the immediate trigger, authorities are conducting a thorough probe to determine if there were any underlying motives or long-standing animosity between the parties involved.
Firoz is survived by his wife, three daughters, and a son. His family is currently in the process of filing a formal legal complaint. Police have assured the public that a rigorous investigation is underway and that those responsible for the heinous act will face the full extent of the law.
