Zubaida Rahman, wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has called upon the Sasakawa Peace Foundation to expand its cooperation with Bangladesh in critical areas including healthcare, medical research, maternal and child health, and the development of modern medical infrastructure. She made this significant call while addressing a high-profile health-related seminar organized by the prestigious Sasakawa Peace Foundation in Tokyo during the afternoon local time.
Highlighting the core policy framework of the administration, Zubaida stated that the current government of Bangladesh has identified healthcare, education, and social protection as major national policy priorities. She elaborated on the various robust initiatives undertaken by the government to ensure affordable healthcare for all citizens, significantly improve the quality of public health services, recruit qualified healthcare workers, and expand unhindered access to health and education for underprivileged and disadvantaged communities.
Furthermore, she emphasized that the government is actively working to elevate the overall living standards of the populace through employment-oriented education, expanded educational opportunities for underprivileged students, family-based social assistance programs, and the introduction of the innovative Family Card system. These holistic approaches are designed to create a safety net that protects the vulnerable while fostering sustainable national development.
Describing health as an intensely important area of both her professional and personal interest, Zubaida remarked that ensuring the physical and mental well-being of the people is crucial for a prosperous nation. She pointed out that Bangladesh-Japan bilateral relations are continuously evolving with shared values, and there exist vast opportunities to collaboratively address emerging challenges within the health and social sectors through sustained dialogue and technical cooperation.
